About Our Foundation
The mission of the Metamora Land Preservation Alliance is to support thoughtful land stewardship practices in the Metamora community to sustain its unique characteristics.
To fight this mining project, we have retained Chris Bzdok of Olson, Bzdok & Howard. Chris has been named a “Best Lawyer in America” and a “Michigan Super Lawyer” both in environmental law; has served as Mayor of Traverse City; and an Adjunct Professor of Law at Michigan State University College of Law. Chris has the needed experience with sand and gravel to help us navigate the long path to success.
MLPA has hired experts to help win this fight. These experts are needed in geology, groundwater pollution, traffic safety, and property values to make clear at the public hearing that “very serious consequences” (the applicable legal standard) would result from this mine.
It might seem obvious that the Town would be irreparably harmed by this proposed mining operation but that is exactly what Levy’s experts claim won’t happen. We must counter them with the truth and that is what our experts will do.
We are solely funded by citizen donations, and to to keep up the fight against the mining companies – we need your help.
