PROPOSED ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENT REGARDING GRAVEL MINING

Metamora Township Board; December 14, 2015:

MLPA asks Township to take action on proposal previously submitted, namely to conform zoning ordinance to current law and strengthen the current Master Plan to more clearly describe potential impact of gravel mining on Township planning goals.

Township Board adopts resolution:

(1) Four month moratorium on all requests seeking approval of gravel mining in Metamora Township  and (2) Studying best means of conforming zoning ordinance to Gravel Mining Standards introduced by amendments to the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act in 2013.
Additionally clear process delineated for the resolution of any due process claims by those who felt they were aggrieved by the Board’s action.

Calls for Township Board Meeting on January 11, 2016.

Metamora Village Council:

Votes to oppose any new gravel operation due to serious consequences and to support Township in its efforts
